WHAT IS “VITACEREAL”?

It is a complementary food supplement that is incorporated in children’s diets along with breastfeeding beginning at 6 months of age.

FOR WHOM IS VITACEREAL?

The Vitacereal is distributed to children 6 to 35 months of age, pregnant women and mothers in periods of breastfeeding who need a better alimentation.

WHAT DOES “VITACEREAL” CONTAIN?

The Vitacereal is a mixture of corn and soybean meal fortified with vitamins and minerals. There are two presentations.     One which is prepared like a thick
cereal for children and the other prepared in the form of a drink for the mothers.     The first one provides 30% of the daily energy required for children 6 to
35 months.     The second one provides additional nutrients and energy required by women during periods of pregnancy and lactation.
NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION OF GUATEMALA

GUATEMALA IS THE COUNTRY WITH THE HIGHEST INDICATORS OF CHRONIC MALNUTRITION IN LATIN AMERICA.

Of every two children, one is suffering from chronic malnutrition.     This compromises the future of the country and hinders the human development of our population.

WHAT IS CHRONIC MALNUTRITION?

Chronic malnutrition is established when a child has a low height/weight for his age.     It is produced by a diet deficient in quality and quantity of food during long periods of time and/or
recurrent disease.     The damage caused by chronic malnutrition is permanent.     Some of the consequences of chronic malnutrition are:

1.        Intellectual deficiencies.
2.        High dropout rates in school.
3.        Low productivity.
4.        In Women:     Problems during child birth, among others.

Therefore, chronic malnutrition as viewed from an individual perspective will bring many consequences and damage to these people that will be suffered for the rest of their lives.  From a
collective perspective it doesn’t allow for the emergence and development of people and countries.
